Red Wine

Although not the most popular wine in North America, red wine is the most popular wine throughout the world. The main difference between reds & whites is that red wines are originally processed with the skins on to provide additional flavors and tannins to the wine. Another key difference is that red wine is served at cellar temperature while white is served much cooler.

Serving temperature for red wines is dependant on many factors but can generally be put into two categories. Young red wines generally have little tannins and should probably be served a little cooler than mature wines. The most accepted temperature for young wines is 14 to 16°C (57°-61°F). For mature wines the temperature is generally a little higher and they should be served around 18°C (65°F)
